Episode 1 · Session 2 · July 13, 2026
Mirrors of the Haunted House
The rain stops at the edge of Daggerford, and the party walks into the Fall Time Festival, held on the tenth full moon of the year. Sister Maren is playing violin in the square. Fiadh joins her, Corso adds his pan flute, and for one night the five of them are just musicians and travellers at a harvest party.
Old Tobin sees the windmills Arlek doodles in his spellbook and tells him about the house on the hill: it comes with the mist twice a year, the windmill is the sign of the family that lived there, and the people who go looking for it don't come back. Over a drink, Sister Maren warns Fiadh to stay away from the mist. Ashka Morn, the shopkeeper, waves it all off until someone asks about her missing husband.
They go anyway. Helliax calls out for his lost family into the fog. Fiadh picks the lock, and the door opens on a grim family portrait and a warning written in blood. The dining table is set with steaming food. A longsword on the wall tells Fiadh, in a cold voice, that it is not hers. An old invitation names the Village of Barovia, not Daggerford, and when Arlek tries to read it he collapses screaming. Children laugh down the dumbwaiter when they send food up. When Corso picks up a doll, a voice tells him to leave the children's toys alone.
Upstairs in the library, a skeleton wreathed in fire rises with a burning greatsword and goes straight for Leona. They put it down, hurt, and find a loose page signed by someone named Klara.
Said at the table
“Leave my children's toys alone.”
