Episode 4 · Session 5 · August 3, 2026
Out of the Dead House
Deep beneath Death House, in the cult leader's quarters, the party finds a prisoner chained to a serpent-carved bed: Gesch Lorbar, a grizzled kobold veteran of the Flaming Fist, scarred by torture and still sitting up straight. He was Leona's arms master. Her family sent him to bring her home. He is a few days too late, and he takes up her greatsword, the blade he gave her years ago.
In the flooded crypts below, a hulking corpse-creature wades out of the black water. Helliax goes down. Gesch leaps the water and tears the thing's ribcage open, and inside is what's been driving it: an undead infant, Walter Durst, the family's hidden third child. Fiadh's psychic blades end it.
Elizabeth Durst's ghost rises screaming that she'll tear the house down before they escape, and the grandfather clock starts to chime. Gustav Durst's ghost blocks the stairs and begs them to lie down and die. Rose, riding inside Fiadh, begs her papa to let them go, and he breaks and stands aside. They run through a burning, collapsing house and burst out into a moonlit clearing as it drops into a bottomless pit behind them.
At a ruined tower they bury Rose and Thorn, and Leona beside them. Klara comes out of the mist to take the children home. On the Old Svalich Road the mists turn them back in a circle, a stranger walks past with a pack of wolves, and a werewolf claws its way out of a fresh grave. When they crest the last rise, there's a village full of crows below and a castle above.
