The Mists Never Forget

Episode 12 · Session 13 · October 12, 2026

One of Ours

For the first time in weeks, nothing attacked the village of Barovia. Strahd kept his word. Helliax healed Ismark, Ireena chose to keep traveling with the party, and Ghast lifted the witch's curse off Gesch. Cassius finally collected his plate armor from Bildrath and gave his old chain mail to Ireena, whose armor class, it turns out, had been eleven the whole time.

Anya's mother opened her door asking if they'd brought the pies, and learned what Morgantha really did with her daughters. In the church cellar, the party finally put Arik to rest, and Doru gave them each a healing potion.

On the road north, the way turned to blood, and knights made of mist rode out of it. Cassius dealt 101 damage with a single smite, then went down again and again while Ireena poured potions down his throat. The table called it Whack-a-Cassius. They won, barely.

Past the bridge, Fiadh found the Vistani caravan that knew her mother. They welcomed her home with wine and stew, until an old woman felt how cold her hands were and a little girl asked about her eyes. The knives came out. Cassius stood between Fiadh and the crowd: even her. Fiadh told her friends the truth. She's a dhampir, half vampire and half Vistani. Helliax checked with holy water.

The old woman told her about her mother, Zorica, who could walk through the mists. In the morning she offered Fiadh a cup of tea, a place in the family, and a search for her father. Fiadh said goodbye to each of her friends, and told Gesch the truth about Leona. Then the party helped her family load the wagons.

Said at the table

“You never go full vampire.”

— Helliax

“They are not abominations, my dear friend. They are saviors of this land.”

— Cassius

“I didn't become anything. I was born this way.”

— Fiadh

“Hey, I'm an exorcist. I gotta do something exorcist-like.”

— Ghast

“Helliax, unless you're offering, go to sleep.”

— Fiadh

“I hope it protects me better than it protected you.”

— Ireena

“Bring it on! Bring it on!”

— Gesch Lorbar
